Introducing the incredible Leila Moon! We welcome Leila and her energetic, intercultural sound to AZEEMA FM for this months DJ Spotlight.
Leila (29), was born and raised in Switzerland by her Algerian Mother and Moroccan/German Father. She grew up watching anime and Bollywood tv, while also spending her time connecting to her roots through music, songwriting and producing.
“I am mostly influenced by Algerian culture” She tells us, “We always had our summer holidays with the family in Algeria. So I grew up listening to a lot of Raï music, as well as Chaâbi and Arabo-Andalousian music. When I started DJ-ing three years ago I was very much into traditional North African rhythms and different genres from the middle east. Today I mix all influences, I always stay open to play what I feel like - my mixes are mostly mirroring my current mood.”
